Brighton Conservation Volunteers is a group of countryside enthusiasts from widely differing backgrounds, and of all ages and abilities, who share the enjoyment of working outdoors, the challenge of learning new skills and the satisfaction of making a contribution to the community.

We meet every Tuesday, absolutely no experience necessary...phone the contact number or just turn up at the pickup point on the day.

School Thanks BCV
BCV's help in creating a wildlife area at Iford and Kingston primary school, near Lewes, has won praise from the headmaster, Andrew Dobell. He spoke of the sheer hard work and effort of the BCV team which had helped advance the project.

We've a full programme of tasks for the next few months, with some interesting trips planned in East Sussex.  Recent outings have included trips to Chailey Heritage School, where the volunteers have begun clearing out a deep pond..

Recent Highlight
One of the hardest tasks of recent weeks has taken BCV to Shoreham Beach. There we have been clearing invasive valerian from among rare shingle plants including sea kale, orache and bittersweet.

We work in and around the Brighton area mostly on local nature reserves. Projects include coppicing, chalk grassland management, woodland conservation, pondwork, footpath building and maintenance, fencing and meadow management.
