In January of this year, Brighton & Hove council delivered a bombshell out of the blue and declared that an abandoned farm, plus adjacent statutory allotments 'Horsdean', and six family homes, were earmarked for a Park & Ride development.

Horsdean allotment site is the jewel in the crown of Brighton & Hove sites. Every plot is cultivated, and there is a waiting list of over forty, approx 2 - 3 years.
It is a vibrant and popular site that provides interaction between those of varied backgrounds and many generations, based on a shared interest of fresh food and healthy eating. Here there are families that have created gardens here to relax in, and growers of all kinds, including many organic gardeners.

We contest that this area, so close to housing, within the Sussex Downs AONB, and adjacent to both a conservation area and the proposed national park, is an appropriate place for a car park. and therefore request that you all please sign and circulate the new online petition to save the area from destruction. http://www.petitionthem.com/default.asp?sect=detail&pet=1845
OPEN DAY: to raise awareness of allotment gardening, healthy eating, and to gather support against destruction of the area in favour of a park & ride scheme we are having an open day.

There will be something for everyone of all ages, including refreshments, organised childrens activities, and lots of stalls:
• Bobby's wheat & dairy free cakes
• B&H Organic Gardening Group (BHOGG)
• Moulescoomb Forest Garden and Wildlife Project
• Sussex Friends of the Earth
• PAIDD (Patcham Protest Group against park & ride)
Please come and support us!
